Sanctuary in Bradford flyer 8.15

This event, taking place in the Banqueting Suite at Bradford’s City Hall, is particularly timely in view of the current media and political attention on the refugee crisis – one that of course has not just developed but has existed for many years.
  • What recent developments have there been in national policy towards asylum seekers and refugees  – and what are the local impacts?
  • What does it mean for Bradford to carry the title ‘City of Sanctuary’ ?
  • How can the existing good work in the city be developed?
The event will be chaired by Bana Gora, CEO of the Muslim Women’s Council, and include testimony and poetry from refugees in the city as well as an update on the Sanctuary in Schools project. The Lord Mayor, Cllr Joanne Dodds and Leader of the Council, David Green will also be speaking. Local asylum support organisations will be bringing displays – and a  buffet lunch will be provided.
