Refugee Week 2025: Community as a Superpower
This year we are hosting the exhibition in libraries across the Bradford District. With this year’s theme being ‘Community as a Superpower,’ we felt it made the artwork accessible for pupils and their families to engage with as well as the local community. It also raises awareness all over the Bradford District! An exhibition trail of the libraries which will be displaying the work will be available soon. Work will also be displayed at The Beacon (Bradford 2025) and an online exhibition will be made.
To get involved:
What: Students can create their art work on the theme ‘Community as a Superpower’ using any medium (e.g. paint, pencils, pastels, crayons, collage) on A3 or A4 card (or paper but mounted). Please submit no more than 20 pieces per school. The work will be collected from you on Monday 9th June.
Where: Work will be exhibited in 12 libraries across the Bradford District. Some will be displayed at The Beacon (Bradford 2025) and an online exhibition will also be put together and shared.
Looking for inspiration? What does community mean to you? Check out the Moomin’s ‘Simple Acts’ page as a starting point. Community is the incredible everyday. Ordinary and extraordinary. Simple acts of shared generosity. Kindness multiplied to become an unstoppable force! Communities can bring people together. Bridging divides and offering support. Spaces of resilience and places for healing. How can we reach out to friends, build new connections in and beyond our neighbourhoods? From eating together, playing football or music making – what represents welcome and belonging to you? How can you reflect that through art and creativity?
