The Sanctuary Seekers of Bradford
In collaboration with the filmmaker, Bradford Schools of Sanctuary have developed teaching resources to accompany ‘The Sanctuary Seekers of Bradford’ for use with KS3 and KS4. This is a 30-minute documentary that follows the lives of three Bradford residents from different walks of life; retired train driver Mick, primary school worker Hamida and settled refugee Asumani, as they each show practical care and kindness and compassion to refugees and asylum seekers living in the city. Offering friendship and a warm welcome, they help people overcome the many obstacles faced in the long and challenging journey of rebuilding their lives in the UK.
We offer free access to these teaching resources plus workshops to accompany a screening of the film. This can include a Q&A with the film director and the people in the documentary, some who have lived experience of seeking sanctuary. The workshop can be tailored to the needs of the lesson/audience. You could also make it an event for parents, governors or staff!
