Refugee Week in Bradford is going to be busier than ever.  In addition to established events there will be an extensive programme of films.

  • Launch: Monday 19 June, 5-00 to 7-00pm. Margaret McMillan Tower, Prince’s Way, Bradford BD1 1NN. Music and drama from schools and others, presentation of School of Sanctuary awards, light refreshments. Organised by Bradford Refugee Week Planning Group.

  • Film screenings:  Screenings will be held throughout Refugee Week at selected venues.  Delius Arts Centre will be showing Grow your own, as part of Eating Together in memory of Jo Cox.  Fuse will be open throughout Refugee Week with the Syrian Art and Resistance exhibition and two film screenings.   More information about film screenings is available from Deborah Collett at d[email protected].
  • Art Exhibition: Monday 19 June to Saturday 24 June, 11-00am to 5-00pm. Gallery II, Chesham B Building, University of Bradford, Bradford BD7 1PH.  The exhibition will also be open on Saturday 1 July, to coincide with the International Refugee Festival.  This is a mixed-media, all-age exhibition on the theme of Our shared future, wit. Individual and collaborative work from established artists, art students, refugees and asylum seekers, schools and elsewhere. Organised by Bradford City of Sanctuary,

  • Walk for Justice: Wednesday 21 June, 9-30am to approx. 4-00pm. Ten mile walk from Centenary Square to the Home Office signing centre, at Waterside Court in Leeds. Organised by BEACON.  For  more information see the Beacon website.

  • International Refugee Festival: Saturday 1 July, 11-00am to 3-00pm. Grange Interlink Community Centre, Summervale Road, Bradford BD7 1PX.  Workshops, information stalls, children’s games, music – including a Sufi band, dance, five-a-side football, free food etc.  Organised by Bradford Refugee Week Planning Group.

  • Other events: There will be a host of other events. The full programme will  be available shortly.

Bradford Refugee Week Planning Group

The Planning Group is composed of about twenty individuals and organisations which have come together to plan and deliver events in Refugee Week.  This is an open group and – as there is a lot of work to do – we would welcome more members.  Contact:  Mary Blacka – contact details above.
