Plans are already underway for Refugee Week 2019, which will take place in locations across Bradford from Monday 17th – Saturday 22nd June.

For this year, Bradford City of Sanctuary will again be curating an Open Exhibition of art works around the theme: Different Pasts, Shared Future.
It will be held at Bradford Capital of Cycling, Hall Ings, Bradford BD1 5SD and aims to be even bigger and more diverse than last year.
Entries in any medium are invited from schools, community groups, refugees and asylum seekers, artists working in this area who share our aims.
Email [email protected] for a registration form – we’d love to know by the end of April who will be contributing so we can plan the display accordingly.

Theme: Different pasts: shared future
Date: 17-22 June 2019
Venue: Capital of Cycling, Hall Ings BD1 5SD

The theme can be interpreted in any way you wish.
The venue is a pop-up gallery, in Capital of Cycling, right in the centre of the city.

Examples of work in the 2018 exhibition can be found here
If you are interested in submitting work and would like an Exhibit Registration Form or would like more information, please contact Mary Blacka Bradford City of Sanctuary, by email at: [email protected] or on 01484 686799 or 07908 074167.

Capital of Cycling is a coalition of charities and community groups which aims to increase cycling for well-being, social and environmental change in Bradford.  A bike can be a particularly empowering tool for a refugee or asylum seeker. Dave Robison, of Capital of Cycling says “We’ve started the Cycling to Sanctuary and Riding with Refugees projects, enabling refugees to gain access to bikes and be empowered to ride and maintain them. Over the last two years we have been developing a large community cycling hub based in central Bradford.”
